TVA 3000™ Operating Instructions

These instructions assume the system has been installed in accordance with the installation instructions and that the Favorite Channel List has been set up as directed in the installation instructions. While reading these instructions please refer to Figure 1: TVA Control Head.

Listening to TV audio in your vehicle:

  1. Put the ignition switch in the "ON" or "ACCY" position. TVA operates only when the ignition switch is in the "ON" or "ACCY" position.
  2. Make sure the vehicleÕs stereo is turned on.
  3. Make sure the TVA system is on: If the TVA Channel Display is not lit, press any button on the remote and this will activate the TVA Channel Display thus illuminating the channel number when TVA is on.
  4. Set the vehicles stereo for FM mode and tune it to 89.1 MHz.
  5. Select the desired TV channel using the Channel < and Channel > buttons on the TVA control head
  6. Adjust the vehicle stereoÕs volume control to a comfortable level.

TIPS for listening:

  • Pressing and holding the Channel < and Channel > buttons causes rapid scrolling through the channels (either favorites or all channels, depending on the mode)
  • It is desirable to program one of the vehicle stereoÕs presets with 89.1 MHz for TV audio. You can then easily switch between TV audio and your favorite FM broadcast stations simply by pressing the preset buttons on the vehicleÕs stereo.
  • When not listening to TV audio the TVA system may be turned off by pressing the "ON" button on the TVA control head. It is not necessary to power down the TVA system because all normal stereo functions are available even with the TVA system powered up.

Favorite Channels

Listening to Favorite Channels

The TVA system supports a Favorite Channel List that allows the user to skip past undesired or non-existent channels while advancing up or down with the Channel < and Channel > buttons. In Favorite Channel Access Mode the All indicator is not lit. In this mode only favorite channels will be tuned.

Deleting Favorite Channels

  1. Tune to the channel to be removed.
  2. Press the FAV button
  3. The FAV indicator turns off indicating that the current channel is no longer a favorite channel.

While scrolling through the channels in Favorite Channel Access Mode this channel will be skipped.

Adding Favorite Channels

  1. Press the All button to get the system in All Channel Access Mode (All indicator is lit).
  2. Tune to the channel to be added using the Channel p and Channel q buttons.
  3. Press the FAV button to add a channel. This turns on the FAV indicator.
  4. Press the All button to return the system to Favorite Channel Access Mode.
  5. The desired channel is now saved in the Favorite Channel List.

All Channel Access Mode

Pressing the All button puts TVA in All Channel Access Mode. This turns on the All indicator and allows all channels from 2 through 69 to be tuned. While scrolling through the channels, the FAV indicator will turn on and off corresponding to which channels are on the favorite list. Pressing the All button while the All indicator is lit turns off the All indicator and returns the TVA system to Favorite Channel Access Mode.

Pressing the PREV button tunes the TVA system to the previous station listened to for more than 3 seconds. This feature is very useful for alternating between 2 stations.

Automatic Programming of Favorite Channel List

  1. Press and holding the A/P button for 3 seconds.
  2. The TVA system scans all channels from 2 through 69 and marks only strong stations as favorites.
  3. The scanning process takes approximately 10 seconds.

NOTE: Auto programming erases the favorite channel list and creates a new list based on the existing channel environment.

Headset Operation

The TVA remote control requires the installation of the 1/8" stereo headphone jack on the dashboard or under it as preference dictates. It accepts "walkman-type" stereo headphones. The volume heard through the headphones can be adjusted through the volume button on the remote. There are 10 levels of volume, which is read of the LED as L4, or L8 representing listening levels. For private TV audio listening the vehicleÕs stereo can be turned off or set for listening to other audio material while TV audio is heard through the headphones.

WARNING: It is dangerous and illegal in most states for the operator of a vehicle to wear headphones while operating a motor vehicle. The headphone jack is intended for passenger use only.

NOTE: A mono 1/8" headphone plug, as found on an earplug, cannot be used with TVA. A stereo-to-mono adapter is needed to accommodate a mono phone plug.

Power Connection

The power lead may be connected to the vehicleÕs stereoÕs power antenna lead. This will power down TVA whenever the VehicleÕs stereo is powered down.
