Control Head 3.1 Basic Operation These instructions assume
the system has been installed in accordance with the installation
instructions and that the Favorite Channel List has been set
up as directed in the installation instructions. While reading
these instructions please refer to Figure 1: TVA Control Head.
Listening to
TV audio in your vehicle:
- Put the ignition
switch in the ÒONÓ or ÒACCYÓ position. TVA operates only
when the ignition switch is in the ÒONÓ or ÒACCYÓ position.
- Make sure the
vehicle's stereo is turned on.
- Make sure the
TVA system is on: If the TVA Channel Display is not lit,
press TVA Channel Display will indicate the channel number
when TVA is on.
- Set the vehicle's
stereo for FM mode and tune it to 89.1 MHz.
- Select the
desired TV channel using the Channel ? and Channel ? buttons
on the TVA control head.
- Adjust the
vehicle stereo's volume control to a comfortable level.
TIPS for listening:
- Pressing and
holding the Channel ? and Channel ? buttons causes rapid
scrolling through the channels (either favorites or all
channels, depending on the mode)
- It is desirable
to program one of the vehicle stereo's presets with 89.1
MHz for TV audio. You can then easily switch between TV
audio and your favorite FM broadcast stations simply by
pressing the preset buttons on the vehicle's stereo.
- When not listening
to TV audio the TVA system may be turned off by pressing
the ÒONÓ button on the TVA control head. It is not necessary
to power down the TVA system because all normal stereo functions
are available even with the TVA system powered up.
3.2 Favorite
Channels
3.2.1 Listening
to Favorite Channels The TVA system supports a Favorite Channel
List that allows the user to skip past undesired or non-existent
channels while advancing up or down with the Channel ? and
Channel ? buttons. In Favorite Channel Access Mode the All
indicator is not lit. In this mode only favorite channels
will be tuned.
3.2.2 Deleting
Favorite Channels 1) Tune to the channel to be removed. 2)
Press the FAV button 3) The FAV indicator turns off indicating
that the current channel is no longer a favorite channel.
While scrolling through the channels in Favorite Channel Access
Mode this channel will be skipped.
3.2.3 Adding
Favorite Channels 1) Press the All button to get the system
in All Channel Access Mode (All indicator is lit). 2) Tune
to the channel to be added using the Channel ? and Channel
? buttons. 3) Press the FAV button to add a channel. This
turns on the FAV indicator. 4) Press the All button to return
the system to Favorite Channel Access Mode. 5) The desired
channel is now saved in the Favorite Channel List.
3.3 All
Channel Access Mode Pressing the All button puts TVA in All
Channel Access Mode. This turns on the All indicator and allows
all channels from 2 through 69 to be tuned. While scrolling
through the channels, the FAV indicator will turn on and off
corresponding to which channels are on the favorites list.
Pressing the All button while the All indicator is lit turns
off the All indicator and returns the TVA system to Favorite
Channel Access Mode.
3.4 Preset
Operation TVA has 3 preset buttons, 1 Ð 3. These buttons provide
direct access to 3 preset channels Ð the ones you listen most
often.
3.4.1 Programming
Presets 1) Tune the TVA to the desired channel. 2) Press and
hold the desired preset button (1 - 3) for 3 seconds. 3) A
beep will be heard and the display will flash to confirm programming.
3.4.2 Tuning
a Preset Channel Press the desired preset button, (1 Ð 3).
3.5 Toggling Between 2 Channels Pressing the PREV button tunes
the TVA system to the previous station listened to for more
than 3 seconds. This feature is very useful for alternating
between 2 stations. 3.6 Automatic Programming of Favorite
Channel List 1) Press and holding the A/P button for 3 seconds.
2) The TVA system scans all channels from 2 through 69 and
marks only strong stations as favorites. 3) The scanning process
takes approximately 10 seconds. .. NOTE: Auto programming
erases the favorite channel list and creates a new list based
on the existing channel environment. 3.7 Headset Operation
The TVA control head has a 1/8Ó stereo headphone jack on the
side that accepts Òwalkman-typeÓ stereo headphones. The volume
heard through the headphones can be adjusted by rotating the
thumbwheel on the control head. For private TV audio listening
the vehicle's stereo can be turned off or set for listening
to other audio material while TV audio is heard through the
headphones. .. WARNING: It is dangerous and illegal in most
states for the operator of a vehicle to wear headphones while
operating a motor vehicle. The headphone jack is intended
for passenger use only. .. NOTE: A mono 1/8Ó headphone plug,
as found on an earplug, cannot be used with TVA. A stereo-to-mono
adapter is needed to accommodate a mono phone plug.
